MEET THE ARTISAN ROZI
Rozi is 23 years young and a pretty smart young man.
His village is really close to the boats that usually take all the tourists from Lombok to the famous Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. So usually they would live indirectly out of tourism, providing food and supplies to the islands. After the earthquake in August 2018 they were in a similar situation as now. Without any income. Rozi cares a lot for his village. He started his coconut business to create jobs for his community. Rozi works together with nine other people from his family. He always tries to involve as many people as he can. The women usually focus on coconut oil production and the men in Coconut Bowl carving.
When Rozi is not shaping spoons or polishing coconuts, he really likes to play the guitar or go fishing. In the future he wants to be the major of the village and his dream is to get enough orders, so his whole village can work in the coconut business.
When we visited Rozi and his lovely community, we were warmly welcomed by smiles, coffee and delicious desserts (of course made of coconut). We want to help Rozi to achieve his dreams and grow the business.
